In the wine industry, one thing that most customers are not aware that many wineries, most in fact do not grow their own fruit .... they buy it directly procure from farmers or with a vineyard management company, is the fruit.
One of the most famous vineyard management companies in Napa Valley is Pina. The family lives and orchards in the valley since 1850, making them truly one of the original families in Napa, even though they do notgenerally considered as such. It should be also very nice that the company is still dominated by four brothers, further evidence of the family devotion to their craft.
For the average wine drinker, I do not know of this really matters ... but what does? Back in 2000, Pina began producing their own wines. These wines were, and are grown on some of the best vineyards in Napa and the family is committed to create single vineyard expressions of each vintage. To the consumerThis means getting an idea of the unique soil and growing conditions, which refer to French as terroir, rather than an expression of wine palate, which is becoming more common in those days.
It is interesting to note that Pina proud of all of its appellation sustainable agriculture in harmony with local wildlife, while the yield of the vines as low as possible, so that their wines a great deal of taste.
If you are interested, your first Pina, allThe vineyards produce exceptional wine, but the Buckeye Vineyard, with its treacherous conditions of cultivation (some vines sit on slopes of 18%, unheard of in California) is perhaps the finest example of what historic Napa multigenerational family-can create it.
I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
